Instrument Irrevocable documentary letter of credit issued by an acceptable bank through SWIFT MT700 or related documentary credit message.
Applicable Rules UCP 600 preferred. ISBP may be referenced for document examination practice. eUCP may be considered where electronic presentation is accepted.
Eligible Structures Sight LC, usance LC, UPAS LC, confirmed LC, transferable LC, revolving LC, partial shipment LC and commodity-backed documentary credit structures.
Eligible Transactions Imports, exports, commodity trades, equipment purchases, industrial inputs, agricultural goods, medical goods, raw materials and contract-backed supply transactions.
Applicant Importer, buyer, trader, distributor, manufacturer, contractor or other party requesting issuance of the documentary credit.
Beneficiary Exporter, seller, supplier, producer, title holder, commodity trader or other party entitled to present documents and receive payment.
Amount Usually equal to the invoice, shipment tranche, cargo value or purchase contract amount, with tolerance where required by quantity or pricing mechanics.
Tenor Sight, deferred payment, acceptance, usance or UPAS-style tenor based on shipment cycle, resale cycle, buyer cash conversion period and bank appetite.
Core MT700 Items Applicant, beneficiary, amount, expiry, place of expiry, latest shipment date, availability, drawee, charges, confirmation instructions, goods description and required documents.
Required Documents Commercial invoice, transport document, packing list, certificate of origin, inspection certificate, insurance document, quality certificate, quantity certificate and any transaction-specific documents.
Funding / Reimbursement Cash margin, approved credit line, import loan, reimbursement undertaking, inventory support, receivables support, sponsor support or other accepted security.
Placement Targets Issuing banks, confirming banks, trade finance lenders, private credit funds, LC finance providers and financial institutions with trade finance appetite.

Indicative Pricing

Cost Component Indicative Economics
LC Issuance Commission Bank dependent. Often charged as a percentage per month, quarter or annum against the LC amount.
Cash Margin / Collateral Case by case. Banks may require partial or full cash margin, approved credit line, inventory support, receivables support or other collateral.
Confirmation Fee Quoted by the confirming bank where the beneficiary requires additional bank risk coverage.
UPAS Funding Margin Indicative base rate plus 3.50% to 8.00% p.a. equivalent where banks accept deferred importer repayment and sight payment to supplier.
Private Credit LC Support 10.00% to 18.00% p.a. all-in where a private credit-backed trade loan or reimbursement facility is required.

Success / Placement Fee Quoted in the engagement letter based on LC amount, financial institution channel, transaction complexity and closing requirements.
